The term “Cloud Computing” has been used quite a bit lately, and everyone seems excited by it.  But what is Cloud Computing?  Is it a good thing for Internet users? 

Basically, Cloud Computing is the ability of an application to provide hosted services all around the Internet.  It lets you access any data you need, and from any online source.  In short, it makes all your data quickly and easily accessible and transferable.  That goes for shared data as well, such as that on social networks or blogging sites.  According to Microsoft’s Steven Guggenheimer, Corporate VP of the company’s OEM Division, the personal cloud is “a way to link several experiences together for end users.”  You’re probably already using a form of Cloud Computing and may not even know it! 

Although the first forays into Cloud Computing were a little clumsy, consumers are now enjoying an easier process. Data is more mobile, and data mining is much smoother.  Items such as Smartphones have really made a difference in the way we access data, not to mention how we transfer it.
